Sony is only against cross-platform play with the Xbox One - because they have the sales advantage, there's really no benefit to them in adding it at the moment.

I used to play the hell out of Phantasy Star Universe on the PS2 (and later upgraded to the PC version), and it was all one big unified server. They've been promoting it since their consoles first went online with the PS2. Sony doesn't have an issue with cross platform play, and never have.
